Welcome
Entrepreneurial dynamics for driving change
Entrepreneurship is an important part of the economic development of a territory. Entrepreneurs seek opportunities in favorable environments. The larger the population with entrepreneurial intentions, the greater the possibilities for a country to ensure economic growth and the well-being of its inhabitants. The entrepreneurial attitude and the skills to do so reduce the fear of failure, allow opportunities to be seized, and legitimise the social role of entrepreneurs.
Territories that offer fewer barriers to entrepreneurship, where the population values those who take risks and propose new ways of doing things, tend to nurture a network of valuable entrepreneurs and investors capable of supporting them. The attractiveness of entrepreneurship in a territory depends on the institutions that support it, on the entrepreneur’s vision, and on his or her ability to turn an idea, a dream, into a reality that can survive, grow, and multiply.
However, the reality is that the majority of the population does not consider entrepreneurship as an option, and among those who do, a high percentage never materialise their ideas and take advantage of the opportunities available in the market.
According to data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM Spain)In recent years the rates of entrepreneurship among women, immigrants, and people with disabilities have increased, and it is clear that entrepreneurs with greater knowledge and experience create companies that grow more, hire more, and internationalise more. Diversity and education are important in entrepreneurship because they become factors for social improvement and have an impact on economic growth. Because of diversity and education, entrepreneurs can change things if the environment is favourable.
From September 19th to 21st, 2024, the University of A Coruña and the Paideia Foundation will host the 9th International Workshop on Entrepreneurship Research (GEM-ACEDE), organized by the Spanish Entrepreneurship Observatory and the Entrepreneurship Section of the Scientific Association of Economics and Business Management (ACEDE-Spanish Academy of Management),a meeting that seeks to bring together leading academics, researchers, and managers in the field of entrepreneurship, to delve into the challenges that entrepreneurs will face in the future, and to build a promising environment.
